Biography
Prof. Alireza Moghayedi is a Chartered Construction Project Manager (MCIOB) and Associate Professor of Digital Sustainable Construction at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). He is an NRF C2-rated researcher and academic leader, serving as Lead of the Digital Built Environment Research Theme within CABER at UWE Bristol and Co-Director of S+CUBE at the University of Cape Town. With a multidisciplinary background spanning Construction Economics and Management, Project Management, Civil Engineering, and Transportation Engineering, his research focuses on advancing innovation, digitalisation, and sustainability across the built environment. Prof. Moghayedi has led and contributed to major international interdisciplinary research initiatives across the UK, South Africa, and beyond, securing more than £7.5 million in research funding. His work spans digital transformation, sustainable construction, the circular economy, retrofit strategies, digital building passports, digital twins, and resilient infrastructure systems.
Alongside his academic leadership, he has held a range of senior industry and public sector roles across three continents, bringing extensive practical experience to his research, teaching, and knowledge exchange activities. His work is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that support a more sustainable, resilient, and digitally enabled built environment.
