Biography
Prof. Timothy Adekunle serves as a faculty member and Chair at the University of Utah School of Architecture. He earned his Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Kent, UK. A trained architect and builder, he gained extensive professional experience before transitioning to academia. He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (now Advance HE) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB). His research and teaching focus on architectural design, sustainable architecture, building technology, building performance, post-occupancy evaluation (POE), and thermal comfort. He has published extensively in leading journals, including Building and Environment, Building Engineering, Building Research & Information (BRI), Smart and Sustainable Built Environment (SASBE), and others. Prof. Adekunle has served as a reviewer for the National Science Foundation (NSF), the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), and other professional and academic organizations. He is a member of the TAD Journal Editorial Board and served as Issue Editor for TAD 9:2: Innovation. He led the University of Utah School of Architecture through its most recent accreditation process and co-prepared the 2025 NAAB Accreditation Architecture Program Report (APR). His leadership contributed to the school’s exceptional performance and the highest possible outcomes for the Fall 2025 NAAB Site Visit.
